Sustainable Innovation: IGNOS SXT Packaging Honored with the Green GOOD DESIGN® Award 2026

Portuguese sustainable design and the industrial innovation for Sá Castro Ferragens have just been recognized at the highest international level. On March 20, 2026, we were honored in Athens, Greece, during the prestigious Green GOOD DESIGN® Sustainability Awards ceremony.

Founded in Chicago in 1950, GOOD DESIGN is recognized as the oldest and most influential design award program in the world. In its "Green" edition, the international jury focuses on rewarding exceptional commitment to the environment. This year, the spotlight fell on the new sustainable packaging for our high-security cylinder, the IGNOS SXT.

The Molded Cork Revolution

This recognition specifically highlights our disruptive approach to the product's packaging. Created by multidisciplinary designer Rogério Santos, the packaging entirely eliminates the use of plastics and high-impact transport materials, replacing them with molded cork.

The choice of this biomaterial, 100% natural, renewable, and biodegradable, elevates the packaging to the standard of a fully circular economy. As Rogério Santos pointed out during the ceremony in Athens, cork offers superior protection through its natural shock absorption and thermal insulation. All of this is achieved with a positive impact on the ecosystem, as the material is compostable and the extraction process does not harm the cork oak tree.
